This NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Work Supervision is designed for operatives moving into their first construction supervisory role. The course will equip you with the knowledge and expertise in all aspects of occupational work methodology and introduces you to aspects of site supervision and management that are invaluable to your career progression and future NVQ assessment.

BOOK AN ASSESSMENT

In order to take this qualification, candidate pre-requisites are any one (or more) of the following:

  • the individual’s occupational industry experience prior to being registered for the Occupational Work Supervision qualification
  • the individual’s ability and experience in supervising teams
  • the individual is occupationally competent to at least level 2 or SCQF level 5 in Construction.

Learners must be employed and have access to an on-site working environment in order to satisfy the Onsite Assessment and Training (OSAT) element of this qualification.

You must attain a minimum of 8 Units to gain this qualification, comprising all 6 MANDATORY UNITS and at least 2 OPTIONAL UNITS.

MANDATORY UNITS:

  • Monitoring Progress of Work Against Schedules
  • Coordinating and Organising Work Operations
  • Implementing and Maintaining Health, Safety, Environmental and Welfare Practices
  • Confirming the Occupational Method of Work
  • Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships
  • Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area

OPTIONAL UNITS:

  • Co-ordinating and Confirming the Dimensional Control Requirements of Work
  • Implementing Procedures to Support Team Performance
  • Confirming Work Meets Contractual, Industry and Manufacturers’ Standards
  • Allocating and Monitoring the Use of Plant, Machinery, Equipment or Vehicles

The TOTAL QUALIFICATION TIME (TQT) for this Award is 890 hours, including a minimum of 287 GUIDED LEARNING HOURS (GLH).

*GLH = time spent carrying out activities under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor, including assessment if under supervision.

*TQT = GLH + preparation, study or other learning activities directed by, but not under the immediate guidance of, a lecturer, supervisor or tutor.

You will be assessed by a qualified brickwork assessor against a set of performance and knowledge statements derived from National Occupational Standards in the occupational field of brickwork to NVQ Level 3.

Under instruction from your assessor, you are required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit within the qualification.

Gold card

Successful completion of this Diploma means you pass the requirements to apply for a Gold (Supervisory) CSCS Card

It also enables you to gain supervisory and management positions within the workplace, since industry will accept the qualification on its own as entry to a job role.
