This course has no entry requirements, however the learner must be employed as a bricklayer / have access to an on-site working environment in order to satisfy the Onsite Assessment and Training (OSAT) element of the Diploma qualification.

You must complete/achieve a minimum of 6 Units to gain this qualification, comprising all 5 MANDATORY UNITS and a minimum of 1 OPTIONAL UNIT.

  • Conforming to Productive Working Practices
  • Erecting Masonry Structures
  • Moving, Handling and Storing Resources
  • Setting Out to Form Masonry Structures

OPTIONAL UNITS:

  • Erecting Masonry Cladding
  • Erecting Thin Joint Masonry Structures
  • Installing and Forming Specialist Masonry Elements
  • Installing Drainage
  • Placing and Compacting Concrete
  • Repairing and Maintaining Masonry Structures

The TOTAL QUALIFICATION TIME (TQT) for this Award is 670 hours, including a minimum of 334 GUIDED LEARNING HOURS (GLH).

*GLH = time spent carrying out activities under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor, including assessment if under supervision.

*TQT = GLH + preparation, study or other learning activities directed by, but not under the immediate guidance of, a lecturer, supervisor or tutor.

You will be assessed by a qualified brickwork assessor against a set of performance and knowledge statements derived from National Occupational Standards’ Recommended Qualification Structure (RQS) for Trowel Occupations (Construction) Level 2.

Under instruction from your assessor, you are required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit within the qualification.

Successful completion of this Diploma means you pass the training requirements to apply for a Blue (Skilled Worker) CSCS Card
