This course has no entry requirements, however the learner must have access to an on-site working environment in order to satisfy the Onsite Assessment and Training (OSAT) element of the Diploma qualification.

You must complete/achieve all 6 Mandatory Units to gain this qualification.


  • Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare
  • Conforming to Productive Working Practices
  • Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms
  • Moving, Handling and Storing Resources
  • Installing, Maintaining and Removing Work Area Protection and Safety Equipment
  • Applying Sealants to Structural Fabric


This Level 2 NVQ in Joint Sealant Application does not comprise any Optional Units.

The TOTAL QUALIFICATION TIME (TQT) for this Award is 320 hours, including a minimum of 186 GUIDED LEARNING HOURS (GLH).

*GLH = time spent carrying out activities under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor, including assessment if under supervision.

*TQT = GLH + preparation, study or other learning activities directed by, but not under the immediate guidance of, a lecturer, supervisor or tutor.

You will be assessed by a qualified assessor with relevant occupational competence against a set of performance and knowledge statements derived from National Occupational Standards’ Recommended Qualification Structure (RQS) for the Level 2 NVQ in Specialist Installation Occupations (Construction) – Joint Sealant Application.

Under instruction from your assessor, you are required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit within the qualification.

Successful completion of this Diploma means you pass the requirements to apply for a Blue (Skilled Worker) CSCS Card
