The ABC Assessment Centre has delivered and awarded its first Passive Fire Protection qualification today to Brett Lewis, a site manager for Swift Brickwork. This marks the first of many in a long line of PPF qualifications registered with The Centre in recent months.
With direct links to major specialist brickwork contractors across the UK, The ABC Assessment Centre is in prime position to understand the compliance requirements mandated by tier 1 contractors and has worked quickly to offer this new qualification to supplement its already large portfolio of construction-related qualifications.
The Passive Fire Protection NVQ is a recognised L2 qualification which helps provide competency for installer operatives involved with any of the following: erecting fire resisting walls / wall linings / ceilings, installing dry cladding to protect structural steel, installing fire resisting ductwork systems / timber door assemblies, installing fire stopping and penetration seals, and installing flexible cavity barriers.
Dean Degun, Contracts Manager at Swift Brickwork Contractors, is delighted with the first completion and the service provided by the Centre:
“It’s fantastic that The ABC Assessment Centre now offers such an indispensable NVQ. The quality strategy has been spot on in terms of how they assess competency on-site, and the turnaround from registration to qualification is brilliant. Our efficient training matrix is essential for our customers, and our reliance on a well-oiled training provider that is able to react to requests is essential to us. The Centre even claims the corresponding grant money for us, which is an added bonus.”
The ABC Assessment Centre has five fully qualified assessors, able to assess on site anywhere in the UK, and Centre Manager Simon Livett is well equipped for an increased uptake onto the qualification:
“The Passive Fire Protection NVQ is going to be an essential qualification on the supply chain for installers, and we are prepared for its demand. Our assessors are fully aware of our procedures and strategies, and are already undertaking assessments for Swift Brickwork, Lee Marley Brickwork, Lesterose Builders, Lyons & Annoot and Stak Construction. I am confident in our 3-step quality assurance and look forward to strengthening competency in this critical area for construction.”
