This NVQ Level 3 in Bricklaying is the natural progression for both operatives who already hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification and experienced bricklayers seeking their first NVQ accreditation.

This course has no entry requirements, however the learner must be employed as a bricklayer / have access to an on-site working environment in order to satisfy the Onsite Assessment and Training (OSAT) element of the Diploma qualification.
You must complete/achieve a minimum of 9 Units to gain this qualification, comprising all 8 MANDATORY UNITS and a minimum of 1 OPTIONAL UNIT.

- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare
- Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area
- Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships
- Erecting Masonry Cladding
- Erecting Masonry Structures
- Erecting Masonry to Form Architectural and Decorative Structures
- Setting Out to Form Masonry Structures
OPTIONAL UNIT:
- Erecting Thin Joint Masonry Structures
- Installing and Forming Specialist Masonry Elements
- Installing Drainage
- Repairing and Maintaining Masonry Structures
The TOTAL QUALIFICATION TIME (TQT) for this Award is 1470 hours, including a minimum of 757 GUIDED LEARNING HOURS (GLH).
*GLH = time spent carrying out activities under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor or tutor, including assessment if under supervision.
*TQT = GLH + preparation, study or other learning activities directed by, but not under the immediate guidance of, a lecturer, supervisor or tutor.
You will be assessed by a qualified brickwork assessor against a set of performance and knowledge statements derived from National Occupational Standards’ Recommended Qualification Structure (RQS) for Trowel Occupations (Construction) Level 3.
Under instruction from your assessor, you are required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit within the qualification.
Successful completion of this Diploma means you pass the training requirements to apply for a Gold (Advanced Craft) CSCS Card
